Rammstein May 22nd Dallas
So last night I got to see Rammstein for the first time in Dallas.

It was amazing. I’ve been waiting to see them in concert since I was 14 years old watching Du Hast on MTV. Bought every CD and single I could find on eBay and at Media Play. The first website I ever made was about Christoph, then Rammstein as a whole. Got interested in German and learning languages in general, and just the rest of the world in general. I definitely have more favorite foreign bands than American ones by far.
The set list
1. Sonne
2. Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen Sehen?
3. Keine Lust
4. Sehnsucht
5. Asche zu Asche
6. Feuer Frei
7. Mutter
8. Mein Teil
9. Du Riechst so Gut
10. Links
11. Du Hast
12. Haifisch
13. Bueck Dich
14. Mann Gegen Mann
15. Ohne Dich
16. Mein Herz Brennt
17. Amerika
18. Ich Will
19. Engel
20. Pussy

I didn’t spoil the set list for myself before the concert. I just figured it’d play roughly what is on the Made in Germany CD. I was so excited when they played WIDBIFS, I knew it’d mean more old songs were coming..DRSG is definitely a staple, but I didn’t think they’d do Sehnsucht so I was just so thrilled with that! And Bueck Dich! Where did that come from!? How could they even think of doing that in Texas? For it they had Christoph wear his Mein Teil wig and lead the rest of the guys out onto the walkway to the smaller stage on leashes. I think I was one of the only people cheering and not being confused/horrified at that point. I yelled to Christoph that I love him a few times.

After Ohne Dich it seemed like the band was going to stop. Till introduced the band and they all bowed and walked off. I’m not sure if they always do an encore, but thankfully we all cheered enough for them to come back and do more songs. For Amerika the stadium was filled with red, white, and blue giant glitter confetti. With Engel, Till has a set of metal wings that shoot flames, but they malfunctioned. Or at least that’s what Josh said, I was too busy being into the song to even notice. I was definitely the only person in my section of the stadium who knew all the words to the Engel chorus; Gott weiss Ich will kein Engel sein!

I still kind of wish they had played Spiel Mit Mir and Ich Tu Dir Weh, and Wilder Wein, but I knew that was a huge stretch. Those songs are all just reasons for going to see them again. And I will join the fan club at some point so I can get into a meet and greet next time. I’m contemplating going to Mexico just to see Rammstein someday since they always mention how much they love their audiences. The rumor is the next tour video will be shot there.
After the concert we went and bought some merchandise. The poster peddler was a lovely German man who was proclaiming “We came all the way from Germany to take your money! Give us your American money!” and I couldn’t resist that. We ended up with two scarves, a Made in Germany poster with all of their heads on it, and one from the Pussy single with the German flag behind it.
