Punk lolita is a combination of the Western punk style, defined and made famous by Vivienne Westwood, and the typical lolita silhouette. The accessories and prints make or break this style. It is characterized by lack of tailoring (deconstruction), dark contrasted with bright colors, prints like skulls and tartans, and aggressive accessories like studs and spikes. Although lolita is about looking young and feminine, part of it is a rebellion against mainstream clothing that would make a girl blend in with the crowd, and this is the spirit that punk lolitas tap into.
